Dental Implants in Singapore: Cost, Procedure & How to Claim Medisave (2026)

A dental implant consists of a titanium post, an abutment, and a porcelain crown โ€” providing a fixed, stable tooth replacement

Losing a tooth โ€” whether from decay, gum disease, injury, or extraction โ€” affects chewing, speech, confidence, and over time, the alignment of adjacent teeth and the density of the jawbone. Dental implants are the most complete fixed solution for replacing missing teeth. This guide by Dr Wong Sze Wey explains how implants work, what the procedure involves, what they cost in Singapore in 2026, and how Medisave can offset the expense.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a titanium post placed surgically into the jawbone, where it functions as an artificial tooth root. Over 3โ€“6 months, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone (osseointegration). A custom porcelain crown is then attached via an abutment connector โ€” the final result is a fixed tooth replacement that looks and functions like a natural tooth. Unlike dentures (removable) or bridges (relying on adjacent teeth for support), implants are self-supporting and do not require preparation of healthy neighbouring teeth.

The Dental Implant Procedure at Sincere Dental

  1. Initial consultation and assessment. Your dentist reviews your oral health, bone density, and gum status, and discusses your treatment plan and costs.

  2. Preparatory treatment (where needed). Active gum disease must be treated before implant placement. Bone grafting may be required if insufficient bone volume is present.

  3. Implant surgery. Under local anaesthesia, the titanium post is placed into the jawbone. Typically 20โ€“30 minutes per implant.

  4. Osseointegration period. 3โ€“6 months for the implant to fuse with the bone. A temporary crown may be worn during this time.

  5. Abutment placement. Once healing is confirmed, the abutment connector is attached to the implant.

  6. Custom crown fitting. Your porcelain crown is fabricated to match your natural teeth and fitted to the abutment.
