His quest for direct patient interaction and a hands-on approach to healthcare culminated in a pivotal academic pursuit at the University of Melbourne, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). 

His formative experiences in rural Australian public hospitals enriched his clinical acumen, setting the stage for his continued professional development in private practice after returning to Singapore.
